CallMeKeeks she/her
How did you find yourself on this career path?
When I was very young, I use to take off all my clothes.. put on my dad’s cowboy boots, stand on the table and ask if anyone would like to “See My Naked!!” My family absolutely hated when I did that… So naturally I am now a burlesque performer. From your view, what three words best describe you or your work?
Black, Beautiful & Unapologetic If you could go back in time and be the inventor of one thing, what would it be?
What would you go back in time to stop from existing now? (In regards to your area of entertainment)
I would love to be the inventor of the microphone! In that same breath while inventing the microphone, I would have banned cis men from ever being able to use one! Henceforth saving our current generation, as well as many future generations from experiencing whatever is going on right now. What would you go back in time to stop from existing now? (In regards to your area of entertainment)
Could you tell us a rose (good) and a thorn (bad) of your area of the industry?
Rose - There is a ton of really amazing people doing really unique and innovative things in the performance industry as a whole. I am amazed and very proud to know a lot of folks and I’m honoured to be apart of their journey in some small or large capacity! Thorn - We have GOT to wrap it up on the consistent racism, transphobia and fatphobia coming from every direction. Producers, venue owners, other performers, audience members. It’s 2026, so many of us are exhausted & it is exactly $0.00 to treat another human as a human, so let’s get back to humanizing our performance spaces! What fills your cup?
LOVE my Haus of Ebonii babes, there is nothing better after a long stretch of performing or after a big production and the 5 of us just get together and hangout, talk for hours, eat good food and enjoy each others company! Like for instance at Christmas we all watched some of our oldest and first performance videos together and it was hilarious, humbling and beautiful! I tell ya, finding love like this in Alberta is almost virtually unheard of and I really do love all of them so much! Did you ever have/do you have a signature 'schtick'?
Pretty sure I invented the half painted clown mug, and anyone who says differently is lying (this is.. a joke lol)What is one of your goals for the year?
More of a lifetime goal but, this year I will be focusing on more intentional conversations with people who want to see Black queer and trans artists flourish in our city and beyond. Less time dealing with noise & folks who don’t care!
